Commenting on the announcement, Publisher Marí Lategan says: "I'm thrilled and proud that Jo and Jacqui will be joining the In Style team to head up our fashion and beauty editorial divisions. Both are very seasoned and experienced in their respective fields. Their qualifications are on par with In Style's international reputation as the ultimate fashion and beauty magazine."
With key local and international experience, Springthorpe's resumé embraces fashion styling, retail, modelling and art direction including tenure at Saks 5th Avenue and Ford Models in New York. Locally, she has worked on campaigns for Truworths, Daniel Hechter, Hilton Weiner and Woolworths. Springthorpe joins the launch team of In Style after five years as Cosmopolitan's contributing fashion editor.
"Jo has worked on some of the most demanding fashion stages in the world - from her several years in Manhattan, to her time in the fashion trade here in South Africa. I consider her appointment as a coup in fashion publishing," says In Style editor Clare O'Donoghue.
Commenting on Higgins' appointment as beauty editor, O'Donoghue says: "Jacqui joins us with considerable experience and rare credentials encountered today. She started out in the beauty industry as a therapist and therefore brings with her a solid knowledge and comprehensive background in the science of beauty. She also worked in journalism on some of the best international brands and more recently has been involved in the business of beauty."
Higgins joins In Style from the Virgin Cosmetics Company SA where she was employed as marketing and brand manager for the last year. Prior to this, she has enjoyed a successful career as a freelance and permanent beauty editor, assisting with titles like Fairlady, Marie Claire, Style, Your Pregnancy and Longevity.
The launch issue of In Style magazine will be available from mid-November 2006.
