New publication traces black business roots over 20 years of democracy

Sikhululekile magazine, published by Nkwazi Media, a wholly black-owned and black-managed company and subsidiary of Barotse Investment Holdings, will launch on the eve of South Africa's 20th anniversary of democracy.

The magazine seeks to capture and then document the inroads made by black business during the last 20 years of freedom. It will look at the pioneers of black business, the challenges, BEE, ease of doing business, access to funding and more. It will be published quarterly thereafter.

A team of freelance writers is being assembled to provide content, guided by managing editor, David Mwanambuyu. He is the outgoing editor for Black Business Quarterly (BBQ), which he successfully managed for three years and has a Tabbie to show for his efforts. He is credited for BBQ's turnaround, steering it away from a poor read to one of the best B2B publications today.

Launching soon

"I relish a fresh challenge whenever and wherever I see one; this is no different. I am equal to the task and so is entire editorial team. Our writers are all masters of the written word and having worked with most of them for three years, I know together we will deliver a classy publication to make Mzansi proud," said Mwanambuyu.

Operating out of Cape Town, the publisher intends to appoint regional sales managers in each of South Africa's nine provinces. National print run for the launch edition is 10,000 copies for the second week of April 2014. For more information, go to www.nkwazimedia.co.za.
