Celebrity chef tour attracts 40,000 enthusiasts

The recent Nuvolite Celebrity Chef Roadshow featuring celebrity chef, Deena Naidoo toured the Pavilion in Durban, Canal Walk in Cape Town, Sandton City in Johannesburg and Menlyn Park in Pretoria. Over the four weekends an estimated 40,000 health-conscious cooking enthusiasts attended the shows.

Naidoo provided live cooking demonstrations and showed fans how to prepare quick and nutritious family meals using the range of medium fat spreads. He prepared a variety of his favourite dishes, which included chilli garlic prawns, aubergine fans with ratatouille filling and his famous potato and leek soup. Visitors walked away with autographed "Cooking with Deena" recipe books featuring the recipes demonstrated at the roadshows.

Visitors were also given the opportunity to win a dream to the value of R10,000 by simply posting a wish on the company's "Dream Wall." The Heart and Stroke Foundation of South Africa was also active at the roadshow. More than 3,000 visitors took advantage of the free blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose screenings and are now better informed about their health status.

"The funds that the group contributes to the Foundation are used for research into cardiovascular disease, which is recognised as the second biggest killer in South Africa," said Hilton Cairns, national marketing manager of Willowton Group, manufacturers of Nuvolite.

The roadshow was also intended to celebrate the group receiving the Platinum Seal of Appreciation from the Heart & Stroke Foundation South Africa.

Virgin Active also came on board and created excitement around living a healthy and active lifestyle with energetic exercise and dance routines. Vitamin Water also distributed free samples and made consumers more mindful of the role and importance of vitamins. Show visitors received free "Cooking with Deena" recipe books, branded shopping bags, lanyards and samples.

"Deena Naidoo has become a household name in South Africa. He was the ideal choice for us to entertain families around the country with his cooking demonstrations. The road show has enabled us to directly engage with people and screen nearly 3,000, which we see as a very important initiative to help promote a health conscious, active lifestyle in South Africa," concludes Cairns.
