Black glamour on show

What is reportedly Africa's first exhibition showcasing all beauty related products for the black market, Black Glamour, will take place at the Coca-Cola dome, Johannesburg in October 2011.

Thebe Exhibitions and Projects group MD, Carol Weaving, says for the first time manufacturers of products focusing on this very diverse but integrated market will have the opportunity to exhibit under one roof. "The exhibition is aimed at the influential black diamond market - members of South Africa's fast-growing, affluent and influential black community. Black diamonds are the current and future movers and shakers of this country and their lifestyle is intensely debated in the business and marketing media," she says.

"The exhibition will also be an opportunity for international brands to enter the African market. Although this industry is predominantly female, the exhibition will cater for men as well. With a growing male interest in the beauty and wellness industry, we cannot afford to ignore the masculine side.

Weaving says whilst the exhibition sets out to draw visitors from this influential target market, it is also geared at providing exhibitors that essential part of marketing - direct communications with clients.

"Part of the exhibition is a trade day during which exhibitors will have pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings via an online diary service with buyers. Apart from showcasing their products and services, exhibitors will have the opportunity to educate the industry and clients about them."
