Festival Mall and Jacaranda 94.2 support awareness campaigns
To raise funds for Child Welfare, it ran a 'Jail a Victim' initiative, executed in conjunction with the Metro Police, Kempton Park SAPS and 35 companies, who participated in the event by nominating 'victims' from their companies who committed mock 'crimes' such as drinking too much coffee, coming late for work, rendering too good service, being too friendly and so forth. R200 bail was then charged to release a "victim".
"The event was a huge success and the participants had a great time in the name of charity," says Sheridan Naudé, centre manager of Festival Mall. "R3000 was handed over to the Mehlareng Farm School in Tembisa."
Centre is wheelchair friendly
The Jacaranda 94.2's Just Plain Breakfast team recently undertook an awareness campaign in line with the International Day for People with Disabilities. The initiative was a partnership with the Gauteng Provincial Association for Persons with Disabilities and saw the radio personalities navigate the centre in wheelchairs to understand the difficulties that persons with disabilities experience daily.
"This campaign created awareness and educated the general public on the struggles faced by persons with disabilities and the feedback received was positive," notes Naudé. "Our centre was praised as being easily accessible and our additional paraplegic parking and accessibility to Ster Kinekor as well as the excellent service and assistance at Wimpy were highlighted."
