Guests at the gala dinner are therefore requested to leave the stiff black-tie attire at home and dress in their most fabulous eveningwear. As the designers say, "We feel that black tie is passé and not in keeping with our modern lifestyle. It's too stiff and people want to be freer."
This is the latest in a long line of collaborative events held with The Sunflower Fund to raise awareness and funds for the South African Bone Marrow Registry. The fund was established in 1999 and has grown the number of registered donors to 67,875 in 2014. The Fund needs to build the South African Bone Marrow Registry to 100,000 donors representative of every ethnic group to make this a working registry to help save the lives of all patients in need of a transplant. "Contrary to the mistaken belief that becoming a donor is a painful process, we only need two test tubes of blood to be able to type and register a donor," says Adi Phillips, the Fund's PR and events specialist.
Because funds are needed to sponsor the tests and typing, 'We Put A Spell On You' will also include an auction of luxury items handpicked by Klûk and Du Toit and the Sunflower Fund. Among them are outstanding artworks, items by the crème de la crème of brands and a special travel experience.
Also on the programme is a three-course meal by international chef Clinton Tanzer, was well as a live music act. The entire evening will be produced by Deon Redman, the consummate showman who has been at the helm of fashion weeks around the country for almost 10 years and has worked internationally with names such as Gucci, Prada, YSL and Victor & Rolf.
In other words, guests are in for a treat! Tickets are R3,500 per person and bookings are now open on a first come, first served basis.
