Cellphone use may cause cancer, says WHO

Cellphone users may be at increased risk from brain cancer and should use SMSing and hands-free devices to reduce exposure, the World Health Organisation's cancer experts said.

Radio-frequency electromagnetic fields generated by such devices are "possibly carcinogenic to humans", the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) announced at the end of an eight-day meeting in Lyon, France, on Tuesday.Read on.

Caution urged on mobile cancer warning

Medical experts say the public should not be alarmed by a finding by the World Health Organization that mobile phone usage could be linked to cancer.

The WHO classified mobile phone usage as possibly carcinogenic after reviewing the available evidence.
