SAARF publishes SA's biggest research tenders

The South African Advertising Research Foundation (SAARF) has announced the opening of tenders for five of their most important surveys:

  • SAARF All Media and Products Survey (AMPS®)
  • SAARF Products and Brands, Interests and Activities (Life Styles) Self-completion Survey
  • SAARF Electronic Measurement of Outdoor Advertising Survey (SAARF OMS)
  • SAARF Tender for Data Integration of two or more surveys by using fusion or other techniques across all SAARF products such as AMPS, TAMS, RAMS, SAARF OMS, etc.
  • SAARF Radio Audience Measurement Survey (RAMS®)

Dr Paul Haupt, managing director of the Foundation, explains: "Before preparing these tender invitations an Industry Task Force spent more than a year investigating the needs of SAARF stakeholders. The process also attended to financial aspects and negotiated service level agreements with relevant stakeholders to secure the required flow of funds over an extended period of time. The funding commitments remain firm until December 2008 when the tender contracts expire."

Industry sources say that the total value of these tenders is likely to constitute the biggest research budget in SA history.

Tender documents are available from the SAARF technical or managing directors at or telephone 011-463 5340. Tender notices will be published in The Sunday Times, Rapport and City Press on Sunday 7 December.

Deadline for submission of tenders is 12:00 (noon) on Monday 1 March 2004.
