The workshops are being organised by Trade and Investment Limpopo (TIL) in collaboration with various partners, including the national Department of Trade and Industry.
Chief Executive of TIL Julius Mapatha said: “This is part of our initiatives aimed at empowering our existing businesses by helping them access the financial incentives that are offered by the department.”
He said emphasis will be placed on beneficiation and exports and value-adding raw materials from Limpopo. “We will not be able to create the much desired long-term sustainable jobs that we so desire, if we don't focus on this,” he said.
The workshops will be held in Polokwane on Wednesday, Thohoyandou on Thursday and Jane Furse on Friday.
Topics will include export training and export development assistance, trade point and export promotion, small exporter developments, export incentive schemes, the enterprise investment programme, cooperatives, and the black business supplier development programme.
The Limpopo Exporters' Advisory Committee will also be introduced to the exporter community by its Chairperson, prominent local businessman, Tom Boya.
Workshop delegates will also be given a progress report on Limpopo's state of readiness for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and potential business opportunities.
The workshops are being held in collaboration with the Limpopo Economic Development Enterprise and Trade (LEDET) Group of Institutions, local and district municipalities and organised business.
