    SAPICS education awards announced

    Earlier this month, SAPICS (The Association for Operations Management of Southern Africa) announced its 2009 awards for Supply Chain Education Excellence at a gala dinner in Melrose Arch.

    Awards


    • Top scorer in Africa in the CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) examinations (sponsored by Imperial Logistics) - Douglas Nel of IRM Supply Chain Services for Basics of Supply Chain Management;
    • Runner-up in this category - Churchward Mucheki of Softline ACCPAC for Material Planning Resources;
    • Top scorer in the CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) examinations in Africa (sponsored by Tech Pro Personnel) - Henricus Verhoef of Volition Consulting Services achieving one of the highest scores in the world to date;
    • Runner-up - Colin Seftel of PSQ;
    • Tech Pro's annual CSCP bursary - awarded to Pradeep Patel, whose achievements include encouraging one of his staff members to become the first female forklift driver in the country;
    • Student of the Year - Rolindi Theart of Rainbow Farms, whose commitment saw her assisting her fellow students by writing a summary that would help them study for their mid-term exams. She even went into work at weekends, to assist the students who were struggling. Her final exam mark was 95%;
    • Runner-up - Leslie Locke from Aspen Nutritionals;
    • Higher Education and Training Student of the Year - Quintin Joubert of Stellenbosch University;
    • Runner-up - Mukovhe Ravhandalala of Vaal University of Technology;
    • Lecturer of the Year (sponsored by Oliver Wight) - SAPICS president Reuben Badana of TKB;
    • Runner-up - Burnie Adonis of Agile Operations Management Consultants.

    Corporate educator awards


    • Corporate Educator of the Year (sponsored by BTS) - Imperial Logistics
    • Runner-up - Transnet;
    • Operations Management Programme of the Year - Volition Consulting Services for its programme "DeVolition" - the third year it has won this award;
    • Runner-up - Transnet Procurement Academy with ISAPA;
    • SAPICS Authorised Education Provider - Kent Outsourcing;
    • Runner-up - Bizzpro;
    • Initiative Award - Vicenda for "Workshop in a Box”.

    Deon Greyling, MD of BTS, an award sponsor and the principal sponsor of this year's SAPICS conference and exhibition commented that the association's commitment to developing the profession and the success of these events reinforced the company's decision to sponsor the conference for a second consecutive year.
