Introductory supply chain and operations training starts 2010

SAPICS (The Association for Operations Management of Southern Africa) announced on Monday 31 August 2009 that it will offer “Introduction to Supply Chain and Operations” programmes from early 2010. The course is aimed at individuals wishing to enter the field of supply chain operations who have limited work experience in the sector or for learners at NQF Level 2.

“Based on its extensive experience in the education field, SAPICS recognised that, while many training programmes and certifications cater for graduates and experienced supply chain professionals, there has been little offered for other individuals,” explains Association president Reuben Badana.

SAPICS's new training courses will provide a solid foundation for those wishing to embark on a career in supply chain and operations and reflect the association's ongoing commitment to addressing the skills deficit at all levels in the supply chain profession.

SAPICS offers a range of training programmes in the fields of manufacturing, logistics and distribution, as well as materials management. The association is also the South African custodian of two internationally recognised qualifications - the APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) and CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional). It also offers the “Fundamentals of Materials and Operations Management” certification in association with its American affiliate, APICS.

The 32 annual SAPICS Conference and Exhibition, an educational and networking event for Supply Chain management professionals, will be held at Sun City from 25-27 July 2010. See website for more details www.sapics.org.za.
