Melissa van Aswegen, Rainbow FoodSolutions Brand Manager and Ncami Sithole, Rainbow Farms Research and Development Manager, were invited to attend by the Restaurant Association of South Africa. The objective of the trip was to identify international food trends, product and packaging innovations across all categories and to gather international market information, which could be shared with the company's marketing and research and development teams.

“The show was amazing and definitely exceeded all our expectations, with 11 halls, most of which had an upper and lower level, ranged from dairy, drinks, frozen meat, organic…you name it…you saw it!” says Van Aswegen.

She added that as the show is so large, it's almost impossible to see everything so one needs to first plan which halls to visit and what to see or you stand a good chance of either getting lost and/or missing something you should have seen.

“We take pride in providing innovative meal solutions for the retail and foodservice markets in South Africa and from what we saw, Rainbow really are at the forefront of product innovation and technology, not only in South Africa, but in comparison with international poultry suppliers from around the world” continues Van Aswegen. She says she and Sithole will share their findings and ideas with the company's customers and marketing and development teams to ensure the company remains in the forefront of poultry innovation in South Africa.
