SMS fraud warning
adidas South Africa has issued a warning against a SMS, purporting to be from the organisation, stating that winners have won cash prizes. The company's lawyers have notified the police about this scam and an investigation is under way. Recipents are asked to inform the police of any messages received.
"We have received numerous calls from the affected parties and we would like to put it on record that we are not running any SMS competition with a cash prize. We would like to warn the public to be aware that these fraudsters are using our good name to commit fraud," says Zobuzwe Ngobese, the PR manager at adidas South Africa.
