New kid on the PR block
The company has a black economic empowerment of 51%, of which 26% is broad-based. The major shareholder, Humphrey Khoza, has worked with many of the people from Izinkozi during his tenure as CEO of Uthingo, the operator of South Africa's National Lottery.
Izinkozi, which means eagle, has a wealth of experience in the lottery industry having been intimately involved in the bid process for the first license of the South African National Lottery, launching the games LOTTO and ScratchCards and having project managed the World Lottery Association Convention in South Africa in 2004. As a result of this experience, two of the Izinkozi shareholders - Humphrey Khoza and Dominic Dempers - are on a long term contract in Nigeria launching the Lagos Lottery.
Izinkozi has participated in the consultation process for a broad based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) industry charter and currently meets close on 90% of the draft charter targets set for 2014.
"Izinkozi is unique in its approach to broad-based black economic empowerment," says Khoza.
"The two broad-based shareholders, Reachout Ladies Organisation in Germiston and the Holy Apostolic Church, receive a small percentage of each hour charged by all consultants, in addition to sharing in the annual profits. This ensures them a small but steady income stream on a monthly basis."
