Campaign to change perception of chips

To overcome consumers' perception that chips are unhealthy, McCain has launched an advertising campaign emphasising that the new range of Original Oven Chips contains only 3% fat and offer a healthier alternative to many other potato dishes.

The chips are locally produced and made from real farm fresh potatoes. Nutritionally speaking, potatoes are an excellent source of potassium and fibre and are considered a healthy carbohydrate to include as part of a balanced diet. Chips, however, have achieved their bad reputation and association with 'junk food' mainly because of the way they are prepared.

"We wanted to communicate to our consumers that chips don't have to be unhealthy and, at only 3%, you don't have to deprive yourself and you can still give your family a balanced diet," commented Greg Foster, marketing manager of McCain Foods S.A.

McCain Rustic Oven Chips with Skins On also form a part of this range. Lightly brushed with natural sunflower oil, they are high in taste and with their skins still on, offer all the goodness of just picked potatoes.
