Despite the early-morning start and gale-force winds, the “chefs” were up before dawn and in high spirits with everyone preparing the stand, which has over the years been rated as one of the best, most colourful and most entertaining stands along the race route.
By the time the first runners arrived at around 07:30, the “chefs” were ready to offer encouragement to them and the 8,000 or so participants following them – including Compass Group SA's CFO, Brian Alcock, who completed his 15th Two Oceans ultra marathon this year.
