Animation opportunity for young talent

A skills programme developed by Anamazing Workshop and supported by the Department of Arts and Culture, National Film & Video Foundation, NEMISA and Broadcast Partner SABC is looking for new talent in the animation arena.

The APTI partners will develop 13 three-minute animation films to be broadcast on SABC for the six to nine-year-old audience and are looking for synopses that will go through a rigorous development process from January to March 2006.

The cost of tuition is covered by the partners and a monthly stipend will assist the selected trainees during the six month training period.

Applicants should submit their CVs, a letter of motivation and statement of availability to participate in the development workshops. They also need to present a portfolio consisting of at least two figure studies, one showing capability with feet and hands; two facial expression studies; two animal studies; three drawings of original characters; at least two drawings using perspective and any other personal art, animation or design work.

Any knowledge, training or experience in the following is an advantage: film or video making, lighting, film or video editing, photography, still cartooning, illustration, drama and acting, fine art, graphic design and set design.

Animation trainees will work with local and international animation experts and will learn a variety of specialist technical fields within animation production.
