Savante comes home
The tale is an inspiring true story of danger, adventure, romance, betrayal and redemption, set against the turbulent background of a nation in crisis. Savante will be playing a high ranked police officer who works for the South African government. Based on a true story, the production will be filmed in Johannesburg, produced by Andre Pieterse and directed by Peter Bishai.
NY production
He is currently in Los Angeles, shooting the horror film Poe, in which he plays the title role. He will produce and star in an all-star cast benefit reading of 110 Stories, a play by New York playwright Sarah Tuft with all net proceeds benefiting the Red Cross. The reading will take place at the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood Los Angeles on February 22, followed by a VIP reception sponsored by South Africa's Cape Classic Wines. The script uses personal stories recorded in the aftermath of 11 September 2001 to reveal personal experiences and truth and preserve these against the distortions of media, sensationalism and politics.
Own script, more roles
His script, Trust In Her is being produced by Tracey Edmonds (Good Luck Chuck, Soul Food, New In Town), directed by Alfredo De Villa (Nothing Like The Holidays, Adrift In Manhattan). John Papsidera (Dark Knight) is casting and co producing the film. Savante will star and produce as well. It is a film about three very different men, whose respective relationships are coming undone and find their lives and destinies converging on one fateful night in New York City, where it is filmed.
Then in late June /early July, he is off to Iowa to shoot a role as an SS officer in the film, Algona, a true story of a German POW Camp in the cornfields of Iowa during WWII, directed and produced by Larry Webster. He will also act and produce this film with stars including Diane Venora, Mykelti Williamson and Tom Noonan.
