The brand is only eight years old and yet is one of the most successful wine brands in South Africa today. The existing range consists of a sweet rose, natural sweet rose, natural sweet white, dry white, light white, dry red as well as a natural sweet red.
Since its introduction to the local market, the range has shown exponential growth, exceeding 40% year on year, making it one of the most recognised wine brands on the shelf today, and giving it a loyal following.
“The South African consumer is our top priority. We have therefore created a wine that is accessible, easy on the palate and over delivers on price,” comments Phillip Retief, Managing Director: Van Loveren. The estate, about 180km from Cape Town and lying in the Breede River Valley between Robertson and Bonnievale, has been in the Retief family for over three generations. The original farm was acquired in 1937 by Hennie Retief (snr) and later inherited by his sons, Nico and Wynand.
All three of the new sparkling wines retail for about R34.
