The strategy behind the MP3 store, www.justmusic.co.za, is to make the Just Music South African artists' music, which includes SAMA nominated artists Karen Zoid, Harris Tweed, "J" and Flat Stanley as well as their latest signing Zebra & Giraffe, available to their fans around the world.
Commenting on the launch of the store, label owner Karl Anderson says: “We are constantly receiving requests from people looking to buy our South African artists' music from the USA and Europe through to places as far a field as Qatar and New Zealand. To coincide with the launch of the MP3 Store, Just Music is also launching a brand new digital label, simply called Just Music Digital. This new imprint is looking to sign fresh and original South African artists whose music will be marketed and distributed via the Just Music MP3 Store as well as through Just Music's worldwide deals with iTunes and eMusic.
On the launch of the new digital label, Anderson says: “Given how difficult the sale of physical product is these days, our digital label will allow us the opportunity to nurture and develop exciting new South African talent to a global audience over a period of time without the pressures of a traditional release.”
Following the success of South Africa's first unmixed DJ compilation series is another launch for the label, and what is ostensibly South Africa's first legal download store especially for DJs, www.DJsOnly.com.
The store will feature all of the hottest new dance tracks and remixes from some of the world's leading dance music labels such as Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, Time, Oxyd and Big Love as well as music and remixes from some of the world's biggest dance artists, DJs and producers including Booty Luv, Fedde Le Grande, Roger Sanchez, Thomas Gold, StoneBridge, Deadmau 5, Freemasons and Alex Gaudino to name but a few.
