SA companies can no longer afford to ignore extended producer responsibility

Steinhoff International said on Tuesday that for six months ended December 2007 it expects headline earnings per share to be 20 to 25% above those reported for the corresponding period of 2006.
Earnings per share are expected to be 10% to 15% higher after providing for an impairment charge relating to the write-down of the carrying value of listed associated company investment, Amalgamated Appliance Holdings, to its market value at end December 2007.
The group expects to release results on or about March 5.
