Unfiltered but fruity

Fleur du Cap has released two rewarding new red vintages in its premium range of unfiltered wines – Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 and Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Merlot 2005.
Unfiltered but fruity

Both these wines have been produced under the expert guidance of winemaker Justin Corrans, who joined the red-wine team as winemaker at The Bergkelder because “it gives me the opportunity of being an inventive scientist in the cellar whilst working in a passionate, sociable industry”.

Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 is deep red in colour with delectable aromas of coffee, pencil shavings and blackcurrant on the nose. It is a full and well-rounded wine that Corrans says “bursts with raisins and cherry flavours on the palate with just a hint of plum in the background complemented by a spicy oakiness”.

Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Merlot 2005 is a smooth yet lively wine, deep red in colour with strawberry aromas intermingled with plum and blackcurrant flavours infused with gentle vanilla whiffs. On the palate this medium-bodied wine displays fresh, lively berry fruit flavours with just a touch of vanilla ending with a lingering aftertaste.

The Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 retails at around R86 per bottle and the Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Merlot 2005 at R80.
