Egging on Easter sales

Pick n Pay is stocking enough hot cross buns to stretch the length of the N2.

Company spokesman Tamra Veley says that Easter sales have been picking up steadily in the past few weeks and should increase dramatically in the few days leading up to and including the Easter weekend.

"We have brought in over 40 million Easter eggs and Easter goodies into our stores across the country this year. To put this into perspective, if we laid out all of the 20 million hot cross buns next to each other, the bun chain would stretch for over 2,000kms - almost enough to stretch across the length of the N2 highway - South Africa's longest numbered road which stretches from Cape Town through Port Elizabeth, East London and Durban to Ermelo!" she says.
