WDC 2014 appoints creative, digital agencies

World Design Capital Cape Town 2014 has appointed its creative and digital agencies; MetropolitanRepublic (Cape Town) will take responsibility for the above-the-line communications and branding requirements, while Quirk will manage the digital needs of WDC 2014.

With the guidance of the Advertising and Communications Association of SA (ACASA), a shortlist of agencies were identified and invited to participate in the pitch for the WDC 2014 account.

Commenting on the outcome of the appointments, Andre Hübner of the WDC 2014 communications and marketing team, said, "Whilst we're excited at the prospect of working with our new communications partners, we appreciate the tremendous amount of work put in by the other bidding agencies."

Quirk MD, James McKay said, "The agency is grateful and proud to be part of the World Design Capital 2014 team. Our company is passionate about great work that makes a positive difference. This initiative is going to be huge for the city of Cape Town and the country."

Paul Warner, chief creative strategist and founder of the MetropolitanRepublic group, added, "We have a proven track-record in Africa for solving business problems with highly creative thinking. We're incredibly proud of the team for winning the account."
