Local brands with bold movesThe Good Food and Wine Show excitement has just about settled in the Mother City. Despite its usual celebrity chef drawcard, the annual foodie event also brims with local brands - old and new, big and small - showcasing their latest and greatest produce. Bizcommunity's Terry Levin reports on the local brands that caught her eye at this year's event. Think rooibos-infused gin, Jack Parow Brandy and chocolate made from cocoa beans sourced directly from Tanzanian farmers. In other big brand news this week, TFG officially opened its newly expanded and revamped Prestige Clothing factory in Caledon. The R75m investment represents a vote of confidence in, and a substantial investment for the local manufacturing industry, and enables continued job creation and economic growth for this sector. In more controversial news, the Mr Price Group has been referred to the National Consumer Tribunal following an investigation which revealed that the retailer has charged consumers a club fee on credit agreements. The probe is ongoing. June is #YouthMonth at Biz, so don't forget to keep an eye on our special section and contact our sales team for sponsorship opportunities.
