All the right moves

For our Women's Month special section, I interviewed Marlene Bester, the only female master distiller in South Africa. She said, "I was perceived to be the marketing girl ... not the distiller."

On Tuesday at JDA Retail Connect, JDA Software VPs presented how to deliver a seamless brand experience across all channels, profitably with the "new JDA".

Edcon is making all the right moves it seems, with its recent debt rearrangement and now shifting its focus to improve operations to gain efficiencies. CEO Jurgen Schreiber said, "The debt is now at levels that I can say are sustainable for now."

The sale of counterfeit goods is a concern for every business, and according to Dean Bellingan and Paul Muscat, proprietors of intellectual property should be aware of the legal measures available to combat counterfeiting, which they explain in more detail in their article on the irreversible cost of counterfeiting on global economies.

Here, the highlights of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town as mentioned last week: David Tlale unveils bridal collection at Fashion Week; and KLûK CGDT does denim at Fashion Week.
