Social Media Intern (Sports)

Highbury Media (Pty) Ltd T/A Habari Media is a media powerhouse whose world-class titles connect brands to targeted audiences.

We are looking for two Social Media Interns based in Cape Town who are currently unemployed and eager to gain valuable workplace experience. The successful candidates will support our Sports digital and editorial teams, with a primary focus on our SA Rugby and Compleat Golfer digital platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the management of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok.
• Create and schedule social media content.
• Source videos, images and other digital content for social media and website posts.
• Publish newswire and press release stories on sports websites.
• Assist with website content updates.
• Monitor social media trends and engagement.
• Assist with analytics reporting where required.

Requirements

• A passion for rugby, golf, digital media and social media.
• Good knowledge of social media platforms and current digital trends.
• Excellent English grammar and spelling skills.
• Organised, dependable and able to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work accurately and professionally under pressure.
• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
• Willingness to work outside of normal office hours, including weekends, when required.
• Computer literate.
• A relevant degree or diploma in journalism, media, communications or a related field would be advantageous, but is not required.
