Mall of the South invites artists, creatives, and environmental enthusiasts to enter the “From Waste to Art” sculpture competition, a sustainability initiative challenging participants to transform waste into meaningful artworks. Submit a handwritten proposal by 28 November 2025 to qualify for the Top 20 exhibition. Shoppers will vote for their favourite pieces, with the Top 5 advancing to final judging. Two winners will be announced on 22 January 2026, each receiving R20 000.

Mall of the South invites local artists, creatives, and environmental enthusiasts to take part in our From Waste to Art sculpture competition, a creative initiative aligned with our ESG pillar and commitment to sustainability.
This campaign celebrates innovation, creativity, and environmental consciousness by challenging participants to transform waste or recyclable materials into breathtaking works of art. Through this initiative, we aim to inspire our community to reimagine waste as a valuable resource while promoting a cleaner, greener future.
HOW IT WORKS:
• You will create an original sculpture made entirely from waste or recyclable materials should you be selected into the second round of the competition after selection of proposals after deadline date, 28 November 2025.
• Submit your entry (a handwritten proposal detailing your art piece) by the 28th of November to be considered as one of the Top 20 semi-finalists, whose completed artworks will be exhibited at Mall of the South for a month-long public display.
• Shoppers will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite sculptures throughout the exhibition period using a unique QR code.
• The top 5 sculptures will be selected for the final judging round based on the most customer votes received.
• The Judges will select the final (TWO) winners on the 22 January 2025 at Mall of The South based on the submission guidelines provided. This will take place at a Winners Announcement event at Mall of The South.
• The two winning artists will each receive a cash prize of R20 000 at the announcement breakfast on the 22nd of January 2025.
KEY DATES:
• Entry Deadline: 28 November 2025
• Finalist Announcement: 1 December 2025
• Exhibition & Public Voting: 16 December 2025 – 20 January 2026
• Winners Announced: 22 January 2026
