Sita appoints 3 executives as it moves to strengthen leadership
The appointments, effective 1 September 2026, are Phumzile Njoko as executive: supply chain management, Gabaiphiwe Tabane as executive: client engagement and Bongumusa Kumalo as executive: network, cloud and platforms.
Sita said the appointments form part of an ongoing programme to strengthen its organisational capacity and ensure it has the skills and experience needed to support government's increasingly complex ICT requirements.
New executives
Njoko brings more than 20 years of procurement and supply chain management leadership and consulting experience across the public and private sectors. At Sita, she will lead the supply chain management function, focusing on procurement capability, efficiency and governance.
Tabane has 25 years of leadership experience across the private sector, public sector and state-owned entities, including senior roles at Deloitte Africa and Accenture. He will be responsible for strengthening Sita's relationships with government departments and other stakeholders and improving client engagement.
Kumalo has more than 23 years of experience in telecommunications and ICT, including more than 10 years in senior management. His responsibilities will include Sita's network, cloud and platform functions, strengthening the agency's focus on reliable and secure ICT infrastructure.
Executive team still being built
Sita said recruitment for its remaining executive positions is progressing, with candidates for roles including executive: IT infrastructure and chief digital officer in the final stages of recruitment and vetting.
The agency expects to have a fully constituted executive committee in the coming weeks.
The executive appointments form part of broader efforts to improve governance, financial and operational discipline and service delivery.
Sita's leadership changes also follow findings from a Public Service Commission investigation into government IT procurement.
The agency said it has welcomed the oversight process and is working towards implementing relevant recommendations, with a focus on strengthening governance and organisational capability.
"These appointments are an important milestone in Sita's journey to strengthen the organisation and build the leadership capacity required to deliver consistently on our mandate," said Tlali Tlali, Sita's head of corporate affairs.
"We are building an organisation that is better equipped, more responsive and firmly focused on delivering value to government and the citizens we ultimately serve."
The agency said the latest appointments are part of a wider programme aimed at creating a more stable and capable organisation as it continues to support government's digital transformation.
