DFA targets new developments to grow fibre network

Wholesale open-access fibre provider DFA is shifting its focus from network upgrades to expanding its footprint and connecting more commercial properties, as it seeks to accelerate service deployment and grow its customer base.

The South African company says improvements in network uptime, incident resolution times and service delivery have laid the groundwork for its next phase of growth.

“Fibre to the Business is a core part of our growth strategy. Connecting more commercial buildings expands the reach of our network and creates more opportunities for our partners to serve businesses,” says Paul Divall, chief commercial officer at DFA.

Targeting commercial property growth

DFA plans to expand coverage proactively, with a particular focus on commercial buildings and closer collaboration with the property sector.

The company is building a dedicated team of property-sector specialists to engage with developers and identify areas where future fibre infrastructure will be needed.

Divall says fibre connectivity should be considered during the early planning stages of commercial and residential developments, allowing infrastructure to be incorporated into design and construction rather than added later.

This approach, he says, can reduce delays, avoid additional work and save costs for developers and other stakeholders.

DFA has historically connected new developments proactively and intends to increase these efforts to bring its network to more businesses.

Service delivery remains a priority

The expansion follows investment in upgrading DFA’s network, which the company says is designed to scale more efficiently, support additional access points and enable more cost-effective connections, particularly in metropolitan areas.

The company also says its network improvements have strengthened protection against downtime, while changes to its service delivery model are intended to reduce delays and improve accountability.

“Speed to market is non-negotiable for our customers, and we have redesigned our systems around that requirement,” says Divall. “We can now deliver services faster, with fewer delays and clearer accountability.”

DFA says it is also working more closely with customers to rebuild trust through more consistent service delivery.

The company’s growth strategy centres on combining network expansion with faster deployment and closer engagement with customers and property developers, as demand for reliable business connectivity continues to evolve.
