Krispy Kreme is almost here, need I say moreThe long-awaited announcement by Krispy Kreme of its South Africa launch date and location happened this week. From 25 November 2015, The Zone @ Rosebank in Johannesburg is where you'll get your hands on the world-famous Original Glazed doughnut. The store opening will mark Krispy Kreme's 800th, and the first on the African continent. This week also saw Frankie's Soft Drinks merge with Clover to form Clover Frankie's. Clover will hold 51% of the new venture, with the option to acquire the remaining issued share capital in future. Rolf Akermann expresses his opinion on special offers at supermarkets, with products on "special" being out of stock, the "while stocks last" legality aka excuse, and what consumers ought to do about it. Ahead of Retail Congress Africa taking place 3-4 November 2015, we had a chat with Martin Butler who will be presenting on 'winning the war for the modern customer', which he says is little to do with channels, and much to do with customer obsession.
