| No Comment | Well, we know that the advertising industry is just recovering from Cannes, but the countdown to Loeries has begun. It's down by the seashore again in multi-faceted Margate and this year is a very special year as the industry celebrates 30 years of television advertising and 30 years of The Loerie Awards. Every anniversary is a special one, but to have sustained an awards process for 30 years is quite an achievement. Established in the late 1970s to encourage excellence in television advertising when South Africa finally got TV, through the SABC, it has been rejuvenated and rejigged over the years, but has grown to be a true ‘Oscars' style red-carpet annual event over the years and a real showcase for the industry. Bizcommunity.com will as usual be going large at Loeries, fielding a strong and visible team in our trademark red to report on the event 25-28 July 2008, as well as starting the countdown to the annual awards with a series of articles on The Loerie Awards - the past, present and future. If you have reminisces you wish to share, old pix we can publish, old ads that won a gold, please email me on: editor@bizcommunity.com. All contributions welcome and all pix low res please.
Have a great week! Louise Marsland, editor: editor@bizcommunity.com. All marketing news to: marketingnews@bizcommunity.com. Responses to this column welcomed on Bizcommunity.com or on our blog: http://blog.bizcommunity.com.

For a cost, you can create your own suffix, any letters and any name. Domain names are made of three parts. The www, the "name" and the suffix like .com. With ICANN's latest decision yesterday, you now have full creative control over the last two parts. This is a revolutionary new concept creating a global scale boom in new names, massive confusion in duplication, global copycatting - all compounded with cyber-squatting, where piles of popular names will be turned into pyramids of shared stupidity.
