Voluntary Debt Mediation Service (VDMS) was a credit provider initiative through the National Debt Mediation Service (NDMA) that was designed to assist over indebted south Africans manage their credit better. I managed a team that facilitated the entire VDMS process for consumers. The process involved
analyzing the customer's current financial position and proposing restructured (affordable) repayment terms to the credit providers. We acted as mediators and we ensured workable solutions between consumers and their credit providers. Consumers were placed in a position that enabled them to pay their debt and still afford to cater for their day-to-day living costs, whilst creditors were ensured more consistent payments.
