Junior Print Estimator

A well-established printing company based in Pretoria is looking for a Print Cost Estimator to join its team.The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates across multiple print divisions, sourcing outwork and working closely with the sales team to ensure RFQs are turned around efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates across all print divisions.
• Review customer requirements and calculate materials, labour, production time and associated costs.
• Explore different production methods to identify the most suitable and cost-effective solution.
• Prepare comprehensive quotations using Dolphin.
• Provide quote revisions when specifications change.
• Source and cost outsourced work where required.
• Work closely with sales to ensure RFQs are completed within required turnaround times.
• Provide production alternatives and recommendations to customers where appropriate.
• Liaise with clients when required to clarify specifications.
• Assist with internal sales tickets and other estimating-related requirements.
• Create and maintain accurate job documentation and supporting paperwork.

Requirements

• 3–5 years' experience in a commercial printing environment (Digital/Litho/Binding).
• 3–5 years' experience in print estimating.
• Matric with strong Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy and English.
• Strong understanding of lithographic and digital printing processes.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Experience with Dolphin or Quick Easy or other print estimating platforms.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Reliable transport.
• Relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.

We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, analytical and highly detail-oriented, with a strong understanding of how print jobs are produced and costed.

The ability to assess a job from multiple angles and identify the most efficient and cost-effective way to produce it will be key to success in this role.
