Picasso and Africa Johannesburg exhibition extended until 25 March 2006
Standard Bank has extended the Johannesburg run of Picasso and Africa by one week due to the enormous public interest in the exhibition. So far over 30 000 visitors have visited the first comprehensive showcasing of Picasso's work in South Africa at the Standard Bank Gallery.
Picasso and Africa will now close at the Standard Bank Gallery on 25 March before it relocates to Cape Town to open at the Iziko South African National Gallery on 13 April.
Featuring 84 works by Picasso and 29 classical African sculptures from South African collections similar to those that the artist collected, or that might have influenced him, Picasso and Africa opened at the Standard Bank Gallery on 10 February.
