Greenleaf Certification awarded to Shamwari Game Reserve

"Through commitment to operating the lodges in an environmentally conscious way, we have managed to reduce our energy, water and waste," says group general manager, Joe Cloete. "The installation of LED lights along with staff training and awareness has contributed to the reduction in our energy consumption, while the installation of grey water recycling plants enables us to recycle waste water for utilisation in our gardens."

Furthermore, a recycling drive amongst all the staff has seen an increase in recycled waste and a drastic reduction in waste sent to the landfill.

All properties within the Shamwari Group are audited every two years, which is facilitated by the Greenleaf Environmental Standard in order to ensure they adhere to all the greening initiatives.
