The online store contains a variety of genres, including academic books as prescribed by the CAPS curriculum and the Independent Examinations Board (IEB), with 45,000 e-books available completely free. The academic e-books will help learners to study anytime, anywhere and cover content from Grade R right through to university.

ITSI’s technology will deliver the online library of 350,000 e-books to SABC Education users through the company’s miEbooks application. The app is an interactive e-reader that enhances users’ reading and studying experience. It enables users to add notes and sketches to specific sections of an e-book, make highlights, generate summaries from highlighted text for study purposes, receive multimedia resources, and more.

How it works:

  • Register a free account on sabceducation.store.it.si/
  • Choose your e-books
  • Download ITSI’s miEbooks app in any store (App Store, Microsoft Store or Google Play Store) – free of charge
  • Log in and download your chosen e-books, available instantly
  • You will be able to read the e-book on your laptop, tablet and mobile phone

Danie Swart, head of SABC Education, commented, “We are proud to be part of a solution that allows teachers to keep teaching the way they are used to, but with 21st-century benefits to themselves as well as their learners. We are all aware that the digital transformation requires students to not only be able to use technology effectively but also to acquire 21st-century skills like critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. This can be achieved through the implementation of a comprehensive e learning solution of this nature.”

Aunyana Moloisane, CBDO from Optimi, under which ITSI operates, concluded, “With access to e-books, students can literally have a whole library in their bags. And because these books are available offline on their chosen device, it means that learners do not have to be connected to the internet to view or read the books.”
