Invitation to support Challenges for Children campaign

Home from Home calls on all individuals to raise funds for the Western Cape's vulnerable children through its Challenges for Children campaign.

Home from Home provides supported and supervised community-based foster care for orphaned, abused, neglected and vulnerable children through a network of small, family homes in disadvantaged communities in the Western Cape. Through continued assistance from donors, supporters and friends, Home from Home cares for up to 200 children in 32 homes, located across fifteen disadvantaged communities.

What started as a Yoga Challenge in 2010, encouraging participants to practice every day for 30 days, has now evolved into a broader initiative, inspiring individuals to push themselves out of their comfort zone. Whether it is giving up a vice or committing to a healthier habit, individuals partaking in Challenge Month are encouraged to recognise the many challenges the children at Home from Home face on a daily basis.

Special year

"Over the past four years, our Challenges for Children participants have helped raise over R300,000 for the children under our care. It's also great to see many of the same participants joining us for the challenge every year. 2015 is a particularly special year for us, as we also celebrate our 10th birthday," says Pippa Shaper, development director at Home from Home.

YogaWay, the original partner of Challenge Month, will be offering a special rate to all participants who wish to practice at their studios as part of this fund-raising initiative this August.
