"The Round Table community is passionate about this cause and the fact that every leukaemia sufferer has only a 1:100 000 chance of finding a life-saving donor makes it all the more important to us to ensure that National Bandana Day is a huge success. We set ourselves a target of exceeding last year's R800 000 mark and the enthusiasm of our members and their families once again went beyond all expectations. We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to everyone who supported our National Bandana Day fundraising initiatives," said Andre Krugel, president of Round Table Southern Africa.
National Bandana Day has been a committed project of the organisation for the past 11 years and many of the Tablers have personally listed themselves on the bone marrow registry, with some having donated bone marrow to save a life when a match was found.
Founder and director of The Sunflower Fund, Tina Botha, commented, "Our longstanding relationship with Round Table Southern Africa has brought hope to the lives of many leukaemia sufferers. We would like to thank everyone for their unwavering passion and commitment that they dedicate to the project each year."
