Charity book sale for Wola Nani

Gardens Shopping Centre in Cape Town will host a charity book sale from Monday, 21 October to Sunday, 3 November. The two week long sale will support HIV/AIDS NGO Wola Nani, a non-profit organisation that helps bring relief to the communities hardest hit by the HIV crisis.

The sale will run upstairs at Gardens Centre from 9am till 7pm on weekdays, 9am till 5pm on Saturdays, and 9am till 2pm on Sundays.

There will be a large selection of quality second-hand books across various genres including children's, fiction, non-fiction, esoteric, business, biographies, cookery, crafts, poetry and plays. For collectors, there will also be Africana and Antiquarian volumes as well as coffee-table books on art, architecture and design. In addition, stall convenor Well Read Books will also be offering a wide variety of contemporary, cult and classic DVDs and CDs to cater to the most ardent movie and music-lovers.

"We are very excited about hosting our first book sale at Gardens Shopping Centre," comments Well Read Books convenor, Mark Leach. "We hope to raise as much as possible so as to be able to fund Wola Nani's programmes for orphans and vulnerable children through to the end of the year."

Formed against a background of economic curtailment on welfare spending and a huge increase in the number of HIV and AIDS cases, Wola Nani initiated programmes to help HIV+ people in the local community cope with the emotional and financial strains brought about by HIV and AIDS.
