IEA Western Cape to host sectional title workshop
Baillie is the author of a manual, Keyword access to the Sectional Titles Act, which could assist agents involved in selling property in sectional title developments.
The workshop is a two morning course that gives an overview of the Sectional Titles Act and explains the clauses most relevant to the selling of sectional title property. "This is an interactive course which will give each delegate solid grounding and will demystify this fast-growing property sector," says Annette Evans, regional general manager of the Institute.
Topics that will be covered include:
- Background to sectional title
- What is owned when an investment is made
- Comparisons between HOA and bodies corporate
- The importance of the plans and title deeds
- Functions and responsibilities of key role players
- How ST rules apply and relevance thereof
- Managed versus self-managed complexes
- Alterations, maintenance and use of various sections
- Insurance values versus market and municipal values
Agents, through increased understanding of sectional title, should be able to minimise problems relating to sales, build up their dealings in the sectional title industry, and through increased understanding of the product, increase sales volumes by working smarter.
The workshop will be held at the Mowbray Golf Club on 15 and 16 July. The cost is R1,500 per delegate.
