Impala Platinum fires 5000 workers

Impala Platinum's spokesman Bob Gilmour is reported as saying the workers will be offered re-employment but these contracts will have to be re-negotiated through the correct channels.

According to the Mail & Guardian report, NUM's general secretary Frans Baleni says it is disappointed that the company had taken this action.
