VAT panel deadline extended
The deadline for the review of the current list of value added tax (VAT) zero-rated items has been extended to 6 August 2018.

However, the chair of the panel, Professor Ingrid Woolard, requested an extension from the Minister of Finance, Nhlanhla Nene. “The minister has agreed to extend the deadline from 31 July 2018 to 6 August 2018. The report will be made public soon thereafter,” said Treasury.
A VAT increase from 14% to 15% took effect from 1 April 2018.
