Can education help to address some of the systemic challenges in informal settlements?

Over the four days we hosted notable speakers, panel discussions, workshops and several networking events and awards ceremonies. In one of the conferences, moderated by Mr. Chris Gartner, Manager of Client Engagement and Insights, Austrade, Hon. Phil HONEYWOOD, CEO, IEAA (International Education Association of Australia) and Prof. Michaela RANKIN, Deputy Dean International Monash Business School, Australia, the spotlight was shown on the Australian National Strategy for International Education 2025, released by the government in April 2016. The presentation focused on how new products and new opportunities for expansion can be lessons for other countries.
Discovery tour was organised at Curtin University Place Activation by visiting the Trading room, the Agency, Library, HIVE/Curtin Gallery, Centre for Aboriginal Studies.
This year our keynote speaker was Prof. Paolo Boccardelli, dean at Luiss Business School in Italy. His speech “Innovation in Business Education” was well received and engaging.
The results of the best 1000 business schools in 154 countries were revealed on the evening of 28 November, during the Gala Dinner, which was held at the Government House in the presence of Her Excellency the Honorable Kerry Sanderson, Governor of Western Australia. It is customary for us to announce the Top 27 business schools worldwide from 9 geographical zones; however this year due to several ties in the ranking, we were happy to reveal the Top 34 best business schools. This selection is based on the results of the Deans’ vote survey 2016, which achieved a record participation rate of 70.85 %. This year Copenhagen Business School received the highest deans’ recommendation rate and obtained the Master Title of the 2016 Best Business School in the World. A special award was presented to their representative.
University of Cape Town - UCT Graduate School of Business
was selected as the best business school in Africa. With 358% of the dean’s recommendation vote, University of Cape Town - UCT Graduate School of Business continues to prove its academic prestige and excellence. The award was presented to Mr. Stephen Quantrill.This institution remains in the highest category of schools in the 5 Palmes League of Excellence, indicating that it is a Universal Business Schools with strong global influence.
In Africa, following University of Cape Town - UCT Graduate School of Business, The American University in Cairo School of Business came second and University of Stellenbosch Business School came third. Respectively they each received 319‰ and 253‰ of the deans’ vote of recommendation.
