The festival is an annual event that focuses on the third-year students' Experimental Module that they do in the first semester of the year. With Durban campus being so young, it will be screening their current first years' short films made this semester and will include the top third-year experimental short films from the Johannesburg and Cape Town campuses. A selection of the best theatre and musical pieces from their current students will also be performed.
"This mini-festival concept is great for students as they get an opportunity to gauge audience reaction to their work," says Garth Holmes, chairman of AFDA. "From here they are able to refine their work further as they head for the final six months of their degrees."
In Durban there will be food and beverages on sale and music in the outdoor entertainment area. Once-off entry is R20 per person, which allows one to attend any of the screenings and theatre productions in the programme. Tickets are R15 per movie in Johannesburg and R10 per movie in Cape Town.
