Disney's first black princess makes her debut

Every little girl dreams of a fairytale come true from the time she's told one. Here's some more magic making its way to the big screen in The Princess and The Frog.
Disney's first black princess makes her debut

Through the ages fair-skinned princesses have taken the lead in tales like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White to name a few with the exception of , Jasmine, the Persian princess in Aladdin.

But, In The Princess and The Frog Disney breaks the spell with their lead character, Tiana, a beautiful dark-skinned girl whose sole purpose is to open her own restaurant and follow her father's dream. Her childhood friend Charlotte is the total opposite and is obsessed with finding her prince and can't wait to meet him. When Prince Naveen arrives, Charlotte is delighted but Tiana is the one that is led into unexpected adventure.

Most of us are already familiar with the timeless tale of ‘The Frog Prince' and the film follows a similar story with a few enchanting twists. Some more systematic good versus evil but it does the trick. Through the eyes of a child, this can only enhance the love of fairytale wonder.
