Doris Day released hit album aged 87
Doris Day might no longer be a pop idol but this has not stopped her from releasing a new album - at the tender age of 87 - according to The Mercury.
The electronic edition of The Mercury quotes Reuters as saying the album, My Heart, shot into the UK's Top Ten making Day the oldest entertainer to earn that achievement. She conquered the United States music industry more than 60 years ago when her first hit Sentimental Journeywas released in 1945.
She went from being a singer to a stage and screen idol in the 1960s as the all-American-girl starring in major box-office hits including Calamity Jane and Pillow Talk with Rock Hudson.
In the 1950s and 60s she had her own television show, The Doris Day Show.
