    Cape MIC announces speakers

The Cape Music Industry Commission's music industry classes are designed to provide an in-depth look into the working lives of some of the country's top music industry professionals. Clive Ridgeway and Lara Preston have been announced as the next two speakers on 31 March and 7 April, 2010, respectively.

Each masterclass is given by someone who is at the absolute pinnacle of the industry. They will be sharing their insights into what their job entails, what has and hasn't worked for them in the past, where they see their profession moving in the future, as well as answering questions from the audience.

Each of these events will be different and unique.

He is an extremely successful songwriter, having written music for Jonathan Butler, Patricia Lewis, Dr Victor, Kurt Darren, Billy Forrest, Juanita du Plessis, Clive Bruce, Judith Sephuma, Rocking Horse, Cheree, Bev Scott-Brown, Freda Francis, Bobby Angel, and The Boyz.

He was also the programme director at Kfm and had a major influence in making it one of the most successful radio stations in the country. He was with the station for 17 years and, as programme director between 1999 and 2005, the station's listenership doubled.

Ridgeway knows what it takes to write good songs, to write songs for the radio and how to get them played on the radio. He is also a wonderful motivator and his classes are invigorating and inspiring.
