Sheer Sound gets 11 SAMA nominations

The 16th annual South African Music Award (SAMA) nominees were revealed recently at an event in Sandton and Sheer Sound gained 11 nominations.

Sheer Sound gets 11 SAMA nominations

In the Best Adult Contemporary Category, singer-songwriters, Farryl Purkiss and Laurie Levine were nominated.

In the category of Best Alternative Music Album: English, rockabilly rockers, Martin Rocka and the Sick Shop and the godfathers of South African ska, Hog Hoggidy Hog, gained the nod.

The Jaziel Brothers were nominated for Best Duo/Group and Best Pop Album: African.

Oliver Mtukudzi was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album: African, Brian Temba for Best R&B/Neo-Soul Album, Brian Thusi for Best Traditional Jazz Album and Bongi & Collin for Best Urban Gospel Album.

Brian O'Shea was nominated for Best Producer for Farryl Purkiss's “Fruitbats & Crows”.

The awards will be held at Sun City on 16 and 17 April, 2010.
