Farryl Purkiss embarks on national tour

Purkiss will be showcasing songs from his brand new album “Fruitbats & Crows”, while Lior will be introducing songs from his gold-certified, ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Music Awards-nominated albums to music lovers in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban.

In the past three years, Purkiss has toured Australia three times (including a performance at Big Day Out), Europe, the US and, of course, South Africa. He's had radio success in all of the above territories including Japan and had a number one radio hit in France with La-Di-Da. He toured with international greats such as Missy Higgins, Bob Evans, Donovan Frankenreiter, Ben Lee, Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland and performed on stages alongside artists such as Muse, Tool and Jack Johnson.

The sound of Lior

Lior's sound is a rootsy mix of styles that always harks back to the lyric and melody. With a Middle Eastern heritage, Lior also keeps the music of his bloodline close to the surface. It is Lior's voice that has drawn most attention, capable of both power and tenderness, always delivered with soul in its truest sense.

In 2005 Lior was nominated for Best Breakthrough Artist, Best Male Artist and Best Independent Release at the ARIA Awards. “Autumn Flow” was nominated for Australian Album Of The Year by the Australian radio station Triple J. In 2006 his live album was nominated for Best Independent Release and Best Blues and Roots Album at the ARIAs. In 2008 he was once again given the nod by the ARIAs for Best Independent Release once again. Lior has extensively toured Australia and abroad including a European tour. This will be his first visit to South Africa.

They will be appearing the following venues:

  • Wednesday, 2 December: The Mercury, Cape Town with Laurie Levine
